Bumpp Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy ("Policy") is designed to assist you in understanding how Bumpp (the "Company", "we", "us" or "our") collect, use, process and disclose your data which includes Personal Data (as defined below) you have provided to us, to assist you in making an informed decision before providing us with any of your Personal Data. We understand the importance of your protecting your Personal Data, as well as maintaining the security and confidentiality of your information. When you are using Bumpp, you choose who you share your Personal Data with; for example, when you receive another user’s Bumpp Card, the Personal Data is shared only one-way, meaning only the people you give your Bumpp Card will receive the information you choose to share.

This Policy is applicable to our website located at www.bumpp.io (the “Site") and our mobile application (the “App") (collectively, the “Services"), and applies only to information collected, used and maintained by Bumpp from users of our Services and visitors of our Site or App. Access to the Services is provided pursuant to the Terms & Conditions.

By accessing or using any part of the Site, the App, and/or our Services, you acknowledge and agree that you have read, understand, and agree to the terms of this Policy and the collection, use, disclosure and/or processing of your Personal Data by us as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to be bound by this Policy, you should not access or use the Site, the App, and/or our Services or disclose any Personal Data through the Site, the App and/or Services.

For the avoidance of doubt, the meaning of any capitalized terms used but not defined in this Policy, can be found in our Terms & Conditions.

Bumpp’s Service

Bumpp collects and organises our users data which includes’ Personal Data, to facilitate the ease of sharing one's own details to others but Bumpp also allows users to connect with third party software platforms which users have authorized to connect within Bumpp (“Third Party Platforms").

Types of Data Collected

The types of data that we collect include the following:

"Personal Data" means data, whether true or not about a living individual who can be identified from that data (or from that data and other information either in our possession or likely to come into our possession), which includes but is not limited to information such as one’s name, contact information, billing information, social media details, interests, date of birth and age.

"Usage Data" is data that is generated and collected automatically through the use of the Services. We collect information about how you use the Services, such as the features you use, the actions you take, the Bumpp users you interact with and the time, frequency, and duration of your activities and the features you use. Some of the Usage Data collected will be in an aggregated format.

"Device Data" is information we collect from and about the computers, phones, and other web-connected devices you use that integrate with Bumpp. Device Data includes device attributes such as the operating system, hardware and software versions, browser type, app and file names and types. It also includes data from device settings such as information you permit us to receive through your device settings that you manage such as access to your GPS location, contacts list, photos, or camera.

"Cookies" are small files stored on your device (computer or mobile device) that a website sends to your device's hard drive while you are viewing a website. We may use both session Cookies (which expire once you close your browser) and persistent Cookies (which stay on your computer until you delete them). If you wish to restrict or block the Cookies which are set by Bumpp, or by any other website, you can do this through your browser settings. Please note, if you choose to disable cookies, some of our Services may not work properly, or at all.

Data Collection

We may collect your Personal Data in the following circumstances:

  • Account registration and verification: when you provide Personal Data such as your name, mobile number, email address, date of birth, age, work information, for the purposes of account registration or verification through our Services;
  • Creating a card: when you create a personal or business card on Bumpp, we will receive the information that you input into the card (such as your contact information and social media account details);
  • Interaction with Third Party Platforms: when you connect with a Third Party Platform through Bumpp, we will receive information from that Third Party Platform service (such as your social media account details when creating Bumpp Cards);
  • Payment when using our Services: if your usage of our Services require payment, we require that you provide payment related information, including your billing address, shipping address, phone number, and credit card number (“Payment Information"). This information is necessary to process your requests and to contact you if required;
  • Another user digitises your physical business card: When another user scans and digitises your physical business card containing your Personal Data to store within our Services;
  • Browser web storage: we may collect and store information (including Personal Data) locally on your device using mechanisms such as browser web storage (including HTML 5) and application data caches;
  • Communication with us: when you communicate with us or respond to our confirmations, updates, security alerts, and support and administrative messages;
  • Ask for user support: when you make inquiries and receive support in relation to our Services and any other related matter;
  • Report security issues: when you report securities issues concerning the management, operation, provision or administration of the Services;
  • Participate in events organised by us: when you register and participate in events organised, co-organised or supported by us; and
  • Complete surveys: when you voluntarily complete surveys conducted by us.

We may collect your Usage Data, Device Data, and Cookie Data in the following circumstances:

  • Usage Data: When you utilize our Services, we receive Usage Data about you or your use of the Services, to inform us about how Bumpp is being used, to help us improve our user experience and for Bumpp Card owners’ card analytics;
  • Device Data: When you utilize our Services, we receive Device Data about your device(s) and the settings you have set on your device(s) to better personalise your experience when you are using our Product such as the type of features that you will see on our Services.
  • Cookies: Cookies are used to determine whether you are logged in on your device and to recognize repeat visitors. We send Cookies to your device in order to uniquely identify your browser and improve the quality of our Services. Bumpp keeps Personal Data contained in your Cookies and obtained through the other tracking technologies confidential. We do not set any Cookies outside of the bumpp.io domain.
  • Third party Cookies and others: we also may partner with certain third parties to collect, analyze, and use information which may include your Personal Data. For example, we may allow third parties to set Cookies or use web beacons on the Services or in email communications from Bumpp. This information may be used for a variety of purposes, including analytics.

Purposes of Data Usage

We use Personal Data and other information collected through our Services for the following purposes:

  • Facilitating your use of the Services and features:
    • to create, administer and update your account;
    • to enable you to share Personal Data and connect to and communicate with other Bumpp users and potential Bumpp users;
    • to provide our Services or information you request, and to process and complete any transactions; and
    • to send you service-related messages such as confirmations, updates, security alerts, and support and administrative messages and otherwise facilitate your use of, and our administration and operation of our Service.
  • Inviting individuals to become users: when you upload a physical business card of another individual, we may invite them to create a Bumpp account. By providing us with another individual’s business contact information, you represent to us that you have obtained the right for such disclosure to us of that business contact information.
  • Marketing and promotions: to send you marketing communications relating to customised products or Services (that may be of interest or relevance based on your profile). We may communicate such marketing to you by various means, where applicable (including by SMS, chat applications (e.g. WhatsApp, Telegram), push notification, call, and by email).
  • Providing you with user support: to respond to your emails, questions, comments, feedback, and complaints and provide customer service.
  • Safety and security:
    • Managing your security: managing, operating, providing and/or administering your use of and/or access to our Services, such as remembering your account preferences, purchase history and making of payments online, administering security matters and arrangements, operating, and managing the IT and communications systems, monitoring our IT and communications systems through manual and automated tools such as anti-malware software, website filtering and spam filtering, preventing or investigating any fraud, unlawful activity or omission or misconduct; and
    • Storing your data securely: storing, hosting, backing up (whether for disaster recovery or otherwise) of your Personal Data.
  • Improvement of our Services: to monitor and analyze usage of our Services and trends, and to personalize and improve our Services and our users’ experiences on our Services, such as content, or features that match their profiles or interests, and to increase the functionality and user friendliness of our Services;
  • Legal Purposes: we may use the Personal Data we collect for legal purposes, such as to investigate and resolve claims or disputes, detect/prevent/prosecute crime, or as allowed or required by applicable law, examples of these purposes include:
    • Complying with legal and regulatory requirements: complying with all applicable legal requirements and company policies, responding to legal processes such as subpoenas, pursuing legal rights and remedies, defending litigation and managing any internal complaints or claims, conducting investigations, and complying with internal policies and procedures;
    • Complying with government requests: complying with government inspections and other requests from government or other public authorities upon their direction, complying with or as required by any request or direction of any governmental authority, or responding to requests for information from public agencies, ministries, statutory boards or other similar authorities; and
    • Conducting due diligence: conducting user due diligence or other screening and personal identification processes in accordance with all laws, regulations or risk management procedures that may be required by law or that may have been put in place by us.

Data Shared with Third Parties

You acknowledge and agree that Personal Data provided to us by you may be disclosed and/or transferred to the following third parties, and used or processed by such third parties, whether within or outside Singapore, for the purposes set out below or otherwise permitted/ required by law:

  • Other users: When you connect with other users using our Services, your Personal Data will be provided to the people who view or access your Bumpp Card both within the App and on their browser. You can control which information you share through the use of customisable Bumpp Cards within our Services, and your Personal Data will only be shared when you explicitly give us your consent to do so by sharing your Bumpp Card, or if we notify you on our Services that the information you provide will be shared in a particular manner and you provide such information.
  • With Service Providers, Agents and Related Third Parties: We sometimes hire other companies to help us provide certain aspects of the Services to you. Examples include third-party payment processors, companies who send emails on our behalf, cloud-hosting providers and other service providers who work with us in connection with the operation of our Services. Such service providers are provided with the limited scope of information they need to perform their specific function and they will only use your Personal Data to perform the services requested by us, and we will ensure that they are subject to confidentiality and data protection obligations consistent with this Policy.
  • Legal Advisors and governmental Authorities for legal purposes: To fulfil the necessary Legal Purposes described in the section above, we may disclose your Personal Data to our legal advisors and governmental authorities.
  • Business Transfers: We might sell or buy business assets. We may share your Personal Data with the parties involved in such business transfers in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing or acquisition, or in any other situation where Personal Data may be disclosed or transferred as one of our business assets.
  • Analytics shared with Third Parties: We partner with certain third parties to collect and to engage in analysis, auditing, research, and reporting of information which may include your Personal Data. These third parties may use web logs or web beacons, and they may set and access Cookies or use similar tracking technologies on your computer or other device.
  • Aggregated information shared with Third Parties: We may share aggregated demographic information about our user base with our third party partners. Such aggregated information does not identify individual users nor includes Personal Data.

The purposes listed above may continue to apply even in situations where your relationship with us has been terminated or altered in any way, for a reasonable period thereafter.

Third Party Links and Collection of Personal Data by Third Party Platforms

Our Services may display, contain, or make available content and links from Third Party Platforms. To the extent you choose to use or access the Third Party Platform materials, you do so at your own initiative and any Personal Data you provide to the Third Party Platform on the linked pages is provided directly to those Third Party Platforms and is subject to their privacy policy. Our Policy does not apply to such linked sites, and we are not responsible for the content or privacy and security practices and policies of these sites or any other sites that are linked to from our Services.

Data Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to deliver our Services to you or to fulfil the purposes described in this Policy.

You may review, update, correct or delete the Personal Data in your account from within the Services itself. You also authorize us, on your behalf, and in accordance with your account preferences to delete information when it is no longer reasonably needed for the Services. If you have shared your Personal Data with others and they have not deleted it, or it was copied or stored by other users, Bumpp will not be obligated to delete such information.

Please note that, in limited circumstances, we may retain information for a longer period of time as required by law.

Protecting Your Data

We will use commercially reasonable physical, technical, and administrative security measures to protect your Personal Data in an effort to prevent loss, misuse and unauthorized access, collection, use, copying, disclosure, alteration, destruction or similar risks, and the loss of any storage medium or device on which Personal Data is stored. Please be aware, however, that despite our efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and no method of data transmission can be guaranteed against any interception or other type of misuse. While security cannot be guaranteed, we strive to protect the security of your Personal Data, and are constantly reviewing and enhancing our security measures.

Your Rights and Options Regarding the Use of Your Personal Data

Withdrawing Consent

You may withdraw your consent and request us to stop collecting, using, disclosing and/or processing your Personal Data at any time by providing written notice to us at [email protected]. Upon receipt of your written request to withdraw your consent, we may require a reasonable period of time to process and respond to your request. Whilst we respect your decision to withdraw your consent, please note that depending on the nature and scope of your request, we may not be in a position to continue providing our Services to you. We will, in such circumstances, notify you before completing the processing of your request. Please note that withdrawing consent does not affect our right to continue to collect, use, disclose or process your Personal Data where such collection, use, disclosure and processing without consent is permitted or required under applicable laws.

You may “opt out" of receiving marketing or promotional communications from us by following the instructions in those communications or by emailing us at [email protected]. If you opt out, we may still send you non-promotional emails, such as service-related emails about your Bumpp account or our ongoing business relations.

Access and Correction of your Personal Data

If you wish to make (i) an access request for access to a copy of the Personal Data which we hold about you or information about the ways in which we had used or disclosed your Personal Data in the 1 year prior to the date of your request, or (ii) a correction request to correct or update any of your Personal Data which we hold about you, you may submit your request at [email protected].

Please note that a reasonable fee may be charged for an access request. If so, we will inform you of the fee before processing your request. We will respond to your request as soon as reasonably possible. Should we not be able to respond to your request within 30 days after receiving your request, we will inform you in writing within 30 days of the time by which we will be able to respond to your request. If we are unable to provide you with any Personal Data or to make a correction requested by you, we shall generally inform you of the reasons why we are unable to do so (except where we are not required to do so under the applicable laws).

Minimum Age

Our Services are not intended for the use of individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from people under the age of 18. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that his/her child has provided us with Personal Data, he/she should contact us at [email protected]. If we become aware that a person under 18 has provided us with Personal Data, we will take steps to delete such information and any associated user account(s) from our files and our Services.

Changes to our Privacy Policy

Bumpp may update this Policy from time to time. If we do update our Policy, we will post those changes on our Site, together with the date of which it is updated. Your continued access to or use of the Site, the App, and Services after such notice of changes had been given and such revised Policy had come into effect shall constitute your acceptance of the revised Policy.
